Beasts & Foes

Rats

Small black rats abound throughout Parthoris, especially around settlements. Their much larger cousin, the albino cave rat, is more dangerous, but only encountered in dark, out-of-the-way places.

G'krokon

These large insects are found almost everywhere. Although capable of a direct attack, their preferred method of defence is to spit a poisonous and corrosive fluid at you from several paces away.

Gorgons

Two-legged reptiles that usually congregate around water, these savage predators will attack anything on sight, and usually in a coordinated group. Take extra care around their nesting sites, since the much larger females are extremely vicious during the breeding season.

Harpies

The skies of Parthoris thrum with the beat of leathery wings. Harpies are flying reptiles with a nasty sting in their tail, and a penchant for dive-bombing. It is said they like to collect elf heads as trophies. Pray you don't find out for sure.

Fire Imps

Uncommon in Parthoris these days, the fire imp was once plentiful. A concerted effort to eradicate them has reduced their numbers dramatically, to the point where they are known to exist only in certain caves and accursed places.

Golems

D'sparil knew the secrets to creating life from cold stone; now the Cauthorians have also discovered these black arts. Golems are stone made flesh. They have been issued with battle axes and armour to compliment their already great strength and endurance. Lesser golems carry only whips.

Cauthorians

Willing allies of Morcalavin, the assassin empire was crushed by the armies of D'sparil, who saw them as his greatest threat. The Cauthorians are not exactly the most well-loved citizens of Parthoris. Capturing and enslaving elves to rebuild their ancient city of Cauthor S'Gath doesn't exactly endear them any further.

Slaves & Slavemasters

The assassins have taken many elves as slaves in order to rebuild their empire. Slaves have neither the strength nor the will to oppose you, so you can largely ignore them. Some of the captive elves have chosen to betray their own kind and become slavemasters. They can be identified by their armour, and their willingness to attack you with solar flare spells (see the weaponry section).
