Shining Isles (Quest, 27 Jan. 2014)
The Empire has long held control of trade in the Shining Isles, a dangerous but lucrative area. The Clans and the Legions now seek to break the Empire's hold and claim these riches for themselves.
This is a large Legions vs. Clans land-claim map on a series of islands. Beware of the lairs, for some of them contain powerful beings and you enter them unscouted at your peril. Keep an eye out for "secrets" tucked in out-of-the-way parts of the map, too.

Heart of Ice (Quest, 28 Jun. 2013)
Rumors have arisen that cold, evil winds blow from an ancient crypt holding an artifact known as the Heart of Ice. Wise men believe that this artifact contains great evil power. Priests of the Empire and minions of Mortis both seek the crypt.
This is a small Empire vs. Undead map with some tough NPC parties. Both sides start out with a free thief, two level 2 troops and some potions in addition to their starting leader. The training camps should prove useful in preparing for some of the tougher bosses.

Useful hex edits for quest design

Although the game comes with a level editor, not all features are accessible through it. Until an expanded editing tool is made, it is possible to hex edit some values to enable them.

Choose AI Lord's portrait:
To change the portrait that will be used by a Lord in your quest when controlled by the AI, you can perform a quick tweak in a hex editor. Search for the attribute called "FACE" in the Lord's data. The ASCII label "FACE" is immediately followed by a single byte value in the range of 00-03 hex. These values follow the same order as the portrait choices do during player setup: 00 corresponds to the first portrait choice for a Lord of the given race, while 03 is the fourth (female) portrait.

Gold vs. Standard edition?

Some thoughts I posted to the GOG boards regarding which quests were probably added in the Gold edition.

I have both a GOG copy and a CD copy of Sacred Lands, but they're both of the gold edition. However, what I do have is the official strategy guide which (like most such books) only covers the standard edition. It has some details on every quest, so what I can do is tell you which quests it lists and by power of deduction we can guess which ones might have been added by the Gold edition (assuming the guide didn't miss any.)

According to said guide, these are the ten (number specifically mentioned in the guide) standard edition quests:
